Denver Holt is founder and president of the Owl Research Institute, a non-profit organization located in Charlo, Montana. As a field researcher, he believes that long-term field studies are key to understanding trends in natural history.
A graduate of University of Montana, Holt researches owls throughout North and Central America. His work encompasses 25-year study programs. He was also named “Montana's Wildlife Biologist of the Year,” by the Wildlife Society of North America.
Since 1978, Holt has focused on researching owls and their ecology. He has published more than 85 papers and technical documents, including three species accounts for Birds of North America, and 189 owl species accounts for Handbook of the Birds of the World. His work is featured in many publications, national news television segments and documentaries.
When not researching owls, Denver leads private natural history trips for Wild Planet Nature Tours and Victor Emanuel Nature Tours. He is also a keynote speaker at major bird festivals held annually in the United States.
