Owl Research Institute
For more than 25 years, the Owl Research Institute (ORI) has been dedicated to scientific research of owls — their ecology, natural history and habitat relationships. Because owls are chronically under-researched and poorly understood, ORI strives to provide high-quality, long-term studies of owls, and findings to promote conservation. The ORI research station, the Ninepipes Center, is sited in the Mission Valley of western Montana. Surrounded by wildlife refuges, grasslands, and wetlands, the area is home to Grizzly Bears, American Bison and record-setting numbers of raptors.

Bradbury Mountain Hawkwatch
The Bradbury Mountain Hawkwatch was initiated in 2007 in order to quantify the extent and duration of the northbound raptor flight over Bradbury Mountain State Park in Maine. Northern Goshawks are of particular interest, as there are few East Coast sites that tally significant numbers in the spring. As important as the data is, however, the program believes that the outreach and education potential of a hawkwatching site is exceptional. The program employs a Volunteer Hawk Counter each season to not only collect data, but engage the public, educate and share the joys of hawkwatching.
